Triple Strand Necklace
Special Note: This necklace was designed by Shawna of @doubleknottedcrochet on IG, and shared on the EyeLoveKnots blog, where she is a regularly contributor. You can view the pattern for free on the blog, or purchase it via Etsy HERE: https://www.etsy.com/listing/785883020/digital-crochet-pa....
I started making these necklaces a little over a year ago when preparing for my very first craft fair. The craft fair was in April and after Easter, so I wanted something crocheted, but not the typical hats, blankets and scarves because of the southern heat. The necklace is a perfect pairing with a t-shirt or plain swing dress, it adds just the right touch of something interesting and different.
While I favor doing an ombre color pallet in my necklaces, I have also found success in selling these in team colors for that extra touch to a fan’s game day outfit.
Materials:
- 3 different colors of perle cotton thread, size 5 (I use DMC threads)
- 3mm crochet hook
- #20 Tapestry needle for sewing in ends
- A jewelry multi-tool or jewelry making toolkit (including wire cutters and round nose pliers)
- 10 - 12 inches of 1.5mm cable chain link
- 10mm lobster clasp
- 8 - 4 mm jump rings
- 6 eye pins
- 2 6mm x 7mm end caps
Material Notes:
The end caps can be used with the eye pins or you can purchase the glue in end caps and secure with a bond such as E6000.
Time Spent:
It takes me about an hour and a half to make one necklace from start to finish. For faster results, I recommend making all tubes first and then doing all assembly at once.
Measurements:
Finished item is 18 - 19 inches long, fitting right below the shirt collar.
