Triskelion Gamma
Triskelion Gamma is one of three illusion triskelions. When you look straight at the knitting you see only narrow stripes. The image is revealed when you look from the side. You could use these symbols individually as wall-hangings or cushions, or you could use them as squares to make an afghan.
You can use any yarn in two contrasting colours. I used Stylecraft Special DK in Cloud Blue and Emperor. If you use a thicker, or thinner, yarn the illusion will still work but the finished square might be larger or smaller than mine. I used 120 metres of each colour.
I knitted the wall-hanging on 3.25 mm needles. This makes quite a firm fabric so you might want to use larger needles if you are making a cushion or afghan.
A triskelion is a symbolic figure consisting of three legs or lines radiating from the centre. They are found in many different cultures around the world.
