Trixie the Rattlesnake
After hunting for days for a snake pattern that fit what I was looking for, I threw up my hands in frustration, grabbed my hook, and Trixie was born. I hope you love making her as much as I have loved bringing her to life
Cute side note: My son saw her and when he asked if I was going to sell her he came running up with all his “monies” to try to buy her! So Trixie now lives in my son’s room, and he got to keep his “monies”!
This pattern is written for an intermediate amigurumi maker, but could be completed by an adventurous beginner. The assumption is that you have at least basic knowledge of how amigurumi and amigurumi shaping works, but I have done my best to provide you with references to help you along your way. Trixie is about 24” and 9” tall at the tail.
This pattern is primarily worked in continuous rounds. Using a stitch marker is critical to finding the start and end of your rows.
Materials Needed
Any size 4 or worsted weight yarn in 3 colors of your choice. I used less than 1 skein each of Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in Taupe, and Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend in Chai Latte. I also used a small amount of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in Brown for the diamonds on Trixie’s back.
3.50 mm crochet hook
4.0 mm crochet hook - used for the diamonds on her back.
Stitch markers
24mm safety eyes
Tapestry needle
Polyfill
Rattles for tail. This is what I use: https://a.co/d/6nzmEAx or a small pill bottle filled with stones or beads.
I want to thank all my testers for their hard work!
