Trocadero, in Paris, is the home of the Palais de Chaillot. This shawlette’s mitred square edging is inspired by the building’s façade.

The geometric modular-knit edging, set against a garter stitch body, evokes the “moderne” Art Deco style of the Palais.

Trocadero is a wide but shallow crescent shawlette. The edging, worked first, is created by knitted garter welt mitred squares in two colours. Then stitches are picked up along the top edge, and short rows create the gentle curve of the shawlette. The “wings” are long enough that you could wrap it around your back like a Danish tie shawl.

Required skills:

Knit, purl, ssk, sssk, picking up stitches, short rowing.
