Troldhaugen
Oppskriften er også tilgjengelig på norsk.
Troldhaugen is a triangular top-down shawl with beads, nupps, and a true lace edging. It’s named for Edvard Grieg’s piano piece “Wedding Day at Troldhaugen” from Lyric Pieces. In white it would make a lovely wedding shawl, while stronger colours give it more dramatic flair.
The pattern has been test-knitted. It assumes that you know how to cast on provisionally, knit nupps, read charts and attach an edging. Beading is optional but recommended for the border at least. A link is provided to instructions for the beading method used here (crochet hook technique).
You’ll need 1320 beads in size 8/0 or to fit the yarn if you bead the whole shawl but just 120 if you only bead the border.
My testers all used between 700-950 m of yarn, so 1000 m is at the high end of the yardage spectrum.
Thank you to sofus, puffycats, 3genknit and nicolenz for testing!
