It was difficult to catch a good photo of the pocket on this sock. The lace is supposed to resemble pockets, and I hope that’s pretty obvious, but I wanted something extra— a place to put a small keepsake or treasure. They are simple patch pockets, tacked into place, once the sock is finished. Be careful, as surface sewing can restrict the fit— sew into place on a stretched sock! The pocket, and the trinket inside are completely optional, of course, but I think they’re rather fun.

Skill-level: Adventurous sock beginner; Although this sock does feature some lace patterning, the lace stitches are paired with large stockinette areas. Someone with lace experience or with vanilla sock experience would have little-to-no trouble working this pattern.

Materials: approx. 350-400 yards (320-365m) of sock yarn. The socks pictured are a size large and used approximately 380 yards of Tuulen Tytär from Louhittaren Luola in the color Kammari.

Optional: a small charm or pendant and a small (0.5 yd or m) amount of contrasting yarn to attach it in the pocket.

Needles: US1(2.25mm) sock needles. The pattern is written for either DPNs or Magic Loop.

Tools: Tape measure, scissors, tapestry needle

Gauge: 32 stitches & 36 rounds per 4 inches or 10 cm, measured in stockinette stitch.

Sizing: Small (Medium, Large, Extra-large) sizes measure approximately 8(9,10,11) inches around, leg height, ankle depth, and foot length are all adjustable to fit and preference.

Sizing note: the sock fits as a stockinette pattern might, neither restrictive nor elastic.
