Trolltind
Trolltind is a warm and simple stockinette cardigan with optional puff shoulders or regular shoulders. The cardigan is worked seamlessly in the round, with minimal assembly in the end. You can make it with chunky-heavy aran weight yarn or with DK weight yarn held double. This pattern is also a great way to try out steeking for the first time.
I hope you will enjoy this pattern, and if you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me in my Ravelry group ‘Skeindeer Knits’. It’s the best place for swift support. Happy knitting!
Yarn
Hillesvåg Tinde (100% Norwegian wool, 260 m / 284 yds, 100 g) held double.
Alternatives: Hillesvåg Blåne or Troll, Rauma Vams, Sandnes Fritidsgarn, Istex Álafoss Lopi etc.
You will get the best results with either doubled-DK or chunky/bulky weight woollen-spun non-superwash sheep’s wool yarn.
Amount (chunky): (579, 617, 681, 719, 778) (823, 878, 926, 981, 1030) m / (633, 675, 745, 786, 851) (900, 960, 1013, 1073, 1126) yds. Double this amount if you are holding DK yarn double.
Needles
Two sets of circular gauge-size needles for body and sleeves, and 1 mm below gauge-size needles for cuff, neckline and button bands.
The sample was made using 6.5 mm (US 10.5) and 5.5 mm (US 9).
Gauge
14 sts x 22 rnds = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette stitch.
Sizes

To fit bust (74, 83, 91, 100, 109) (117, 126, 134, 143, 151) cm / (29, 33, 36, 39, 43) (46, 49, 53, 56, 60)”.
To be worn with 5-10cm /2-4” positive ease.
The sample is knit in size 5.
Garment bust: (83, 92, 100, 109, 117) (126, 134, 143, 152, 160) cm / (33, 36, 39, 43, 46) (50, 53, 56, 60, 63)“.
Notions
16 removable stitch markers
8 buttons, about 24 mm diameter.
Construction
This cardigan has a classic set-in-sleeve fit, although it’s worked seamlessly in the round. Once you have worked each sleeve and the body bottom-up, you work them concurrently in the round. The decreases are placed so you get a set-in-sleeve silhouette.
There is a steek for the front of the cardigan, and a smaller steek for the neck. There are two small seams at the top of the shoulders that will need grafting and this is instructed in a video.
