Troodon Dinosaur
This is a pattern for a troodon (Troodon formosus), a bird-like dinosaur that lived in the Cretaceous period. Troodons are known to have one of the largest brains of all dinosaurs. Their diet consisted mostly of meat and they are thought to have hunted in packs.
The nice thing about dinosaurs is that no-one can tell what colours they had, so we can use our imagination and create beautiful colour combinations. The example in the pattern is made with beige, purple and red wool, but you can of course choose whatever color you like (the pattern will tell when to change color).
List of materials needed:
- worsted/aran weight yarn (about 130 m)
- hook (4-4,5 mm)
- one pair of safety eyes (10 mm)
- iron wire (about 88 cm)
- sewing needle
- stuffing material
This pattern is available in English (US terms) and in Dutch.
Dit patroon is beschikbaar in het Engels (US termen) en in het Nederlands.
This is an intermediate-advanced pattern that works mainly in the round (the feathers on the tail, arms and head are worked in rows). The pattern contains a lot of pictures that should help with understanding the pattern better.
The trodon is about 30 cm from the top of the head to the end of the tail, and is about 22 cm in height if it’s standing on its legs. The trodon can stand on its own on four legs, and with the right balancing and positioning it can even stand on its back legs!
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or notes about the pattern. (Or if you have any suggestions for other dinosaurs I should make!)
Please do not reshare or resell this pattern, or claim it as your own. You can sell individual products based on this pattern, in limited quantities and with credit to the designer (Eva Pranger).
