The Troop Support hat is designed in patriotic USA colors, with black bands sporting yellow ribbons. The corrugated ribbing fits comfortably warm around the ears, and the body of the hat is roomy enough for big hair.
The hat could be made smaller, but the words “Support our troops” would need to be left off, and another band of yellow ribbons put in instead. Then there could just be fewer repeats of the charts. Another way of adjusting the size of the hat would be to try different needle sizes. Any needles from size 1 through 4 make acceptable fabrics for most knitters.
Less than 1 ounce each of Red, White, Blue, Black and Yellow fingering weight wool required.
