This is a simple pattern for a pot holder/ hot pad. It is crocheted in the round, so that when laid flat it will be thick enough to protect your counter or table from hot pots. Cotton yarn is good for heat resistance. I worry acrylic will melt and have never used it in the kitchen. I believe wool yarn will work well also.

When finished it will bow up in the middle. If this will bother you, don’t follow this pattern. Otherwise, it will still work as a hot pad. The weight of the pot pushes the middle down, so there is no affect on the function, just the look.

Personally, I like to go by patterns that are simple and use as few words/symbols as possible, so that’s how this pattern is written. I do not use the abbreviation “sc” in this pattern. The numbers are the numbers of single crochets.

Color 1 (C1) - main color - is the white in the pictures
Color 2 (C2) - accent color - is the turquoise in the pictures
Half triple crochet - htrc - start a trc normally but instead of pulling through three times, pull through twice. The first time through two loops on hook and the second through the three remaining loops on hook.
