I’ve always loved the look of Selbu mittens. When my husband went on a wintertime trip with his best friends, I volunteered to make a hat for one of them whose birthday was coming up. She requested the purple, teal, and orange shown here, and I added the pink for more depth. The colors made me think of warm beaches and fragrant hibiscus, so, paradoxically, I designed this using the shape of traditional Selbu mittens and the look of tropical flowers and motifs. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
