Tropical Storm Shawl
Knitting Level
Beginner/Advanced Beginner
This relatively easy pattern showcases an expensive yarn! I love how increasing every other row creates a diamond effect so the tiger paws are not on top of each other but at an angle.
Shawl shape - Triangle, not symmetrical, kind of like a sailboat sail.
Basically you knit this on the bias, starting from one corner and increasing at the end of every frontside knit row. Knit until the shawl is as long as you want it to be.
Needles - Size 8 US / 5 MM, with a 32-inch (80 cm) cord
Yarn - Any medium weight yarn. I used 2 skeins Noro Uchiwa (or barrels as they are sometimes called), medium-weight yarn, approximately 1000 yards
Gauge
Before blocking the gauge is 20 stitches for 4 inches. This aligns with Noro Uchiwa’s knit gauge of 16-20 stitches per 4 inches on US 7-9 (4.5-5.5mm) needles.
