Did you know that double knot is regarded as True Love Knot, which symbolizes a true love and interwoven affection between two people?
The True Love Knot Afghan knitting pattern is fun intarsia project, made using main colour yarn and some leftovers from stash to create colourful blocks, and making two double knots in the centre of each square. This Afghan is knitted as separate squares, then joined using crochet st. Knitting in this way is so convenient - you can knit as many squares as you wish. I have knitted my sample using Aran weight wool. Choose any yarn composition, colour, and weight you love! You don’t need to follow a particular gauge. Your size of blanket depends on your knitting tension, chosen yarn weight, size of needles and number of knitted squares.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
Stitches used: k, p, yo, k2tog, ssk, also you must know some basic crochet stitch for joining all squares in one piece.
The pattern comes with written instructions, charts, and photos.

MATERIALS:
I used Drops Nepal (Aran weight) as a main colour. For multicolour blocks, I used leftovers from my stash (Aran weight). Yarn quantity is given for one square.
• MC (grey) - 45 g, approx. 68 m / 75 yd (includes yarn for joining pieces).
• CC1 - 5 g, approx. 8 m / 9 yd
• CC2 - 5g, approx. 8 m / 9 yd
NOTE If you substitute another yarn, please check gauge (tension) and yardage, and adjust accordingly.
• 2 Single pointed needles - 5.00 mm (US 8).
• 1 Crochet hook - 4 mm (US G/6).
• 1 Tapestry needle.
• 4 Safety pins.
• 1 Stitch holder.
MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING
1 Square: (29 x 29) cm, (11 ½ x 11 ½) in.
Afghan: (width 116 x length 87) cm, (45 ¾ x 34 ¼) in.

GAUGE (Tension): 16 sts and 25 rows = 10 cm (4 in), Afghan being blocked and measured over stockinette st pattern, using 5.00 mm (US 8) needle.
NB Gauge is not crucial for this pattern. Your size depends on your gauge. Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches for 10 cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches for 10 cm, take a smaller needle
size. It’s very important to check your gauge (tension) before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your Afghan won’t be size shown.
