True North Cabled Mittens
The True North Mitten Pattern has been designed with ease and quick time to complete in mind.
The pattern is so versatile that the only requirements for changing size is to change the hook and/or yarn type. The pattern is the same for all sizes making this a very easy pattern to use.
Yarn that has been thoroughly tested with the pattern include Lion’s Pride Woolspun (for a very chunky & warm style mitten) and many worsted weight yarns such as Vanna’s Choice, Red Heart Super Saver, Bernat Super Value, Loops and Threads Impeccable and Bernat Wool-Up Worsted. For the Adult Women size, the pattern uses an H Hook and 3 skeins of Woolspun or, 2 skeins of either Vanna’s Choice, Impeccable or Wool-Up or, 1 ball of the the Super Saver or Super Value.
Lion’s Pride Woolspun has since been discontinued A direct substitute for this yarn is Lion Brand Color Made Easy however, is a 100% Acrylic yarn. Another great substitute yarn for this pattern is Red Heart Soft Essentials (Bulky/5 weight yarn).
This design has been tested by other crocheters and is ideal for advanced beginners or intermediate to advanced crocheters. Knowledge of post stitches is helpful to be successful with this pattern however, there are photos and a video tutorial provided with the pattern to provide assistance.
The pattern has a simple “twisted” cable design, consisting only of front post stitches, running the length of the mitt and the body is made entirely of front post double crochets. The thumb is added on separately, again with an easy design to make completion of the mitt quick and easy. A simple change up in stitches, to shallow post stitches, gives the look of a cuff to complete the look of the mitt.
Included with the pattern are photographs to outline stitch placements and a link to a video tutorial on YouTube to help with placement of the cable stitches.
Thank you for stopping by my listing, I hope you enjoy the pattern!
