Trufflehunter Mitts
Twisted rib and Stockinette form a happy union in this pattern, which makes for a quick and satisfying knit that’s great for last minute gifts! Wear the rib on the outside or inside as you please; these mitts don’t judge and neither do I!
One Size: Approximately 7” circumference and 7.5” in length, blocked and unstretched. The ribbing will stretch to fit a variety of adult and teen-sized hands. You also have the option of knitting in standard rib rather than twisted rib if you want more stretch.
Gauge: 24 sts/32 rnds=4: in Stockinette st, knit in the round and blocked.
Materials: US size 5/3.75 mm needle (9” circular, 32” circular or longer for Magic Loop, and/or DPNs), tapestry needle, stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn for holding the thumb sts.
Suggested yarn: Approximately 150 yards of DK weight yarn. Sample shown in Life in the Long Grass DK in colorway Truffle. The simple stitch patterns in these mitts lend themselves to any color of yarn: solid, tonal, variegated. The sjy is the limit with color choices!
Pattern name was inspired both by the color of the yarn used in the sample, and Trufflehunter, the faithful Badger in C.S. Lewis’ Prince Caspian.
