Overview
Tsubomi Hat is worked bottom-up, in the round, seamlessly. The brim is triple folded for a structured look and decreases are worked towards the crown of the hat. The crown has a rather pointed shape to create slight definition from the brim. The hat is named after the Japanese word “蕾” (つぼみ), meaning “flower bud,” inspired by its crown shape.

Tsubomi Hat is designed to have approximately 3cm - 5cm of Negative Ease.

Formula:
Your Head Circumference – Negative Ease = Finished Circumference

Gauge
21- 22 sts / 30 - 31 rows = 10cm × 10cm in stockinette stitch

Materials
These are some recommendations.
The estimated meterage required ranges between 210m (size 1) – 250m (size 3), however, be aware of any slight difference depending on your yarn choice.

Sport + Lace version

• 2 balls (for all sizes) of De Rerum Natura Ulysse (185m/50g) or sport ~ light DK yarn of equivalent
• 2 balls (for all sizes) of De Rerum Natura Bérénice (210m/25g) or lace yarn of equivalent

Single strand of DK version

• 1 (2) 2 skein(s) Tofino Knit Company Lighthouse DK Tweed (212m) or DK yarn of equivalent

Other Supplies
• 3.5mm circular needles (40cm cord)
• 3.5mm circular needles (80 cm cord) for Magic Loop method or DPNs
