This pattern is a variation of my tangyuan amigurumi pattern posted during Chinese New Year 2022. It is a smaller version of the large tangyuan in that pattern and can also be used to make tangyuan amigurumi.

The dango amigurumi is basically a crochet ball, which is a basic technique for making amigurumi. So, it is very easy to make and is suitable for beginners in amigurumi. It can be made in continuous rounds or closed rounds. There is no colour change in each amigurumi, so either method makes no practical difference.

The finished amigurumi measures about 2.8cm by 2.8cm by 2.8cm, but the finished size may vary depending on hook size, yarn and crochet tension.

This amigurumi was inspired by tsukimi dango, a traditional Japanese confection that is made and enjoyed on Tsukimi, the Japanese moon-viewing festival. Derived from the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, Tsukimi takes place on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.
