TTL Mystery Sock 2016
Welcome to the Through the Loops Mystery Sock 2016! Please join the Fans of Through the Loops group here on Ravelry to participate in the KAL, ask questions, and show off your progress. Please ask questions in the Ravelry group rather than in private messages or email.
Please use a “spoiler” photo as the first photo on your Ravelry project page. This may be the official KAL image or any other photo that does not show the Mystery Sock in progress. Likewise, avoid spoiling the mystery for others by only posting progress photos in the appropriate thread in the Ravelry group. We will have spoiler threads for each week of the KAL.
A note about sizing: Socks are meant to be worn with negative ease. This means that when selecting size you should choose a size that is 1.5 -3” less than the circumference of the foot and ankle. If there is a large difference between the foot and ankle, select the size for the foot and adjust the needle size for the leg to make it larger or smaller. The length of the foot is customizable.
It is important to check your gauge and adjust your needle size as necessary. Do not assume that you will use the same size needles that are called for in the pattern. I cannot emphasize this strongly enough. The needle size given is just a suggestion, every knitter is different.
The left and right socks are mirror images of each other. Be sure to work one sock from the left sock instructions and one sock from the right sock instructions.
This pattern contains both charts and written instructions for all stitch patterns. Be sure to refer to the instructions for each clue before knitting the stitch patterns, otherwise critical information may be missed.
I recommend a solid or semi-solid yarn to avoid obscuring the stitch patterns.
The clues will be released on the following dates:
Clue 1: January 15th
Clue 2: January 22nd
Clue 3: January 29th
Clue 4: February 5th
Clue 5: February 12th
Finished Measurements: 6.75 (7.75, 8.75)” circumference at foot, see notes about sizing. Length is customizable.
Yarn: Fingering Weight yarn. I used: Anzula Squishy, Kashmir; 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon, 385 yards per 114g skein. 1 skein should be enough for most sizes. If knitting for a large foot, a second skein may be needed.
