This design is to fit a regular sized Swiffer or similar flat mop and to be made on any standard gauge machine. See the accompanying article on the many ways to make tuck stitch. This pattern only states when to begin the pattern stitch. Specific ways of accomplishing it are in the tuck article. Diamante yarn that gets a gauge of 7.5 stitches/12 rows/inch in stockinette at a stitch size of 5 on the dial was used. This is tighter than I would knit Diamante for a garment. The stockinette is used for edges and for the top of the Swiffer sock which necessitated a firm, stable fabric to keep the more flexible tuck stitch portion under control. The tuck portion is knitted at one stitch size larger than the stockinette portion.
