Many are suprised to hear that Tucson, Arizona has a vibrant cattle industry! Growing up I loved the bandanas that cowgirls and cowboys wore around their necks when herding cattle or practicing for the rodeo. This unique cowl fatures a stranded knitting paisley motife and fringe inspired by the classic bandana.

MEASUREMENTS
Neck Circumference: 22” / 55 cm
Back Depth: 12” / 30 cm
Front Depth: 21 1/2” / 54 cm
Measurements do not include fringe

GAUGE
26 sts / 39 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch using US 4 (3.5 mm) after blocking
26 sts / 39 rows = 4” / 10 cm in Stranded Knitting using US 5 (3.75 mm) after blocking

MATERIALS
Yarn:
Less Traveled Yarn, Paloma (fingering; 90% Superfine SW Merino, 10% Silk, 463 yds / 423 m per 100 g skein)

• Yarn A: Cabinwood; 1 skein OR approx 380 yds / 347 m of fingering weight yarn
• Yarn B: Devil’s Bridge; 1 skein OR approx 190 yds / 174 m of fingering weight yarn

Needles:
US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles. Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Other Notions:
Stitch markers (11), tapestry needle, piece of cardboard approximately 6” / 15 cm wide (to create fringe), crochet hook to attach fringe

ADDITIONAL NOTES

• This cowl is worked top down and is initially worked flat and then joined in the round. It features a stranded colorwork motif and a stretchy Icelandic bind off.
