Pattern directions include lots of color pictures, very detailed knitting instructions and definitions of stitches used, and NO CHARTS…so this pattern is easily accomplished by an advanced beginner to intermediate knitter.

The Jardins des Tuileries Châle pattern was inspired by the Tuileries Garden in Paris. The stitch patterns of the shawl reflect the various parts of the garden with a border of Eiffel Towers on each end just to add a bit of fun. The shawl is knit in two pieces. A provisional cast-on is used at the center, half of the center pattern is worked, followed by three lace patterns and ending with the Eiffel Tower edging. You will then place the stitches from the provisional cast-on onto your needles and work the opposite end in the same manner. The simple lace patterns change often enough to keep things interesting, are easily memorized and don’t require charts!

Materials needed to make the shawl:
Size US 4 (3.25mm) knitting needles
840 yards of lace weight yarn (shawl shown was made with Madeline Tosh Prairie yarn).

Finished measurements blocked:
76” long, 13 ½” wide
Shawl can be made longer if desired.

Gauge:
Using size US 4 needles and lace weight yarn, in stockinette stitch and blocked: 25 stitches and 34 rows over 4”. Adjust your needle size as necessary to get the specified gauge.
