Tuisku on paksu ja lämmin pipo talvipakkasille. Se neulotaan kaksinkertaisella langalla yhdistäen DK-vahvuista villaa ja ohutta pörröisempää lankaa ja kokoja on vauvasta paksuhiuksiseen aikuiseen. Piposta tulee rouhean lämmin käyttämällä esimerkiksi suomenlampaan villaa ja unelmanpehmoinen pehmeämmillä villalaaduilla, kuten polwarthilla tai merinolla ja pörröinen lanka voi olla esimerkiksi alpakka-silkkiä tai silkki-mohairia. Tarvitset:

• Kahta lankaa: DK-vahvuista (noin 200 - 230 m/100 g) villalankaa ja pitsivahvuista (noin 600 - 800 m/100 g) pörrölankaa. Molempia noin 110/130 (150/165) 180/200 m. Ohjeen pipossa käytetyt langat: Ruskanlehti Polwarth DK sävyssä Huuma ja Ruskanlehti Suri Silk sävyssä Punaviini.
• 4,5 mm pyöröpuikot, tai puikot, joilla saavutat ohjetiheyden 17 S/10 cm (neulottuna pipon pintaneuleella, kasteltuna ja mittoihinsa kuivattuna). Kerrostiheys ei tässä ohjeessa ole merkityksellinen, koska neulekorkeus ilmoitetaan sentteinä.

Tuisku (blizzard in Finnish) is a chubby and warm beanie for the coldest of weathers. It’s knitted with two yarns (held in double): DK weighted wool and more delicate and furry alpaca-silk or silk-mohair. There are sizes for all ages and head circumferences. You’ll get a more warm and sturdy beanie by choosing woolly wool (like finnsheep or BFL) and a more laid back smoother version with fibers like polwarth or merino. When knitted in the measurements given in this pattern, the beanie has enough space for a good sized bun or an option to fold the brim in double for more warmth. It is, however, very easy to modify the height of your beanie and you might want to add a pompom on top of your hat. The yardages are those of a beanie knitted with the measurements given in this pattern and don’t include the pompom. And they are only estimates, which you should keep in mind when choosing yarn!

There are six sizes: 1/2 (3/4) 5/6 and they are designed for head circumferences of 13.4 - 15.4/15.4 - 17.3 (17.3 - 19.7/19.7 - 21.7) 21.7 - 23.6/23.6 - 26.0 in or 34 - 39/39 - 44 (44 - 50/50 - 55) 55 - 60/60 - 66 cm. Note that the beanie has some negative ease to fit more snuggly!

You’ll need:

• Two yarns: About 125/140 (160/180) 200/215 yd or 110/130 (150/165) 180/200 m both: DK weight, about 220 - 250 yd/3.5 oz (or 200 - 230 m/100 g) wool Lace weight, about 655 - 875 yd/3.5 oz (or 600 - 800 m/100 g) furry yarn. Used in the pattern pictures: Ruskanlehti Polwarth DK in colorway Huuma and Ruskanlehti Suri Silk in colorway Punaviini.
• US size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles or the needles you’ll reach the right gauge with. The gauge should be 17 ST/4 in (10 cm) knitted with the pattern given in this pattern and properly washed and blocked. Row gauge isn’t significant with this pattern since the height measurements are given in inches (and centimeters).
• Measuring tape, stitch marker, tapestry needle and pompom if you want to add that.
