This baby blanket makes the ideal gift for newborns as it’s a standout from other baby blankets around, but still simple in design. It can be made in different colour schemes and the size is easy to adjust to suit different cots or pushchair/stroller sizes. Once you’re familiar with the pattern and get into a rhythm, the blanket works up quickly and is satisfying to make.

The pattern is 11 pages long and includes colour photographs of the finished item and progress stages, a step by step tutorial with photos for some of the trickier parts and a full checklist of the colourway I used at the end of the document.

The finished blanket if following the yarn, hook and repeats recommended in the pattern is approximately 30’’x20’’. The project is best suited for intermediate crocheters, as the tulip stitch can be a bit tricky to get your head around to start with. It can easily be customised by using different colours, adding or taking out some of the pattern repeats or making it longer or shorter.

For this pattern, you will need:

Yarn: DK in cream (colour A), dark pink (colour B), light pink (colour C), and green (colour D)

Hook: 5mm

Tapestry needle
Scissors
