Tulip Stitch Washcloth
A free version is also available.
• DESCRIPTION: This stitch creates a gently textured fabric. It would be suitable for a baby blanket, scarf,
or almost any other design.
The Tulip Stitch Washcloth is the fifth in my Washcloth Collection.
Every other Saturday in 2021, I will release a washcloth pattern. Some will be lacy and light and some will be sturdy and dense. The first will typically, but not always, be free. The second will usually be paid. At the end of the year, there will be an e-book for sale that contains all the patterns, plus 3 bonus patterns. By the end of the year you will have a lovely collection of washcloths and you will probably have learned some new stitches!
• GAUGE & SIZING: Gauge (tension) isn’t critical in this pattern, although a larger hook’s tension may make the fabric too holey and fragile to make a good washcloth.
Working the chain with the 4.0 mm prevents the washcloth from arcing.
This pattern is written to produce a washcloth roughly 9.5 inches by 9.5 inches. If you would like to change the size, simply chain the width you’d like, making sure it’s a multiple of 4, then add 5 more chains
• ABBREVIATIONS & STITCHES USED:
ch = chain
sk = skip
st = stitch
SC = single crochet
DC = double crochet
** = Repeat the instructions inside the asterisks the indicated number of times.
() Stitches within the parentheses are all worked into the same stitch
{ } The number inside brackets indicates the number of stitches in the row
After row 1, you will be working into the first chain of your chain 4, not the stitch.
(1 SC, ch 3, 3 DC) = one stitch
• MATERIALS:
About 120 yards of cotton or cotton blend yarn (Such as Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran or Dishie from WeCrochet)
A 4.0 mm (G/6) hook and a 3.75 mm
hook.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Stitch markers if desired.
This pattern is also available for free on my blog.
