The Tomte Gnome is 36cm tall, to the top of hat when sitting.
This is an easy pattern to make & everything is knit flat, as I know most people
don’t like knitting in the round
MATERIALS
you will need:
Flesh tone DK – I used Sirdar (10g)
Sparkly red DK – I used Knitting James Brett Twinkle CS
Variegated peach / cream DK – I used Ice yarns (15g) MS
Green sparkly DK for top of hat 5g
Brown chunky yarn for basket – I used Stylecraft special (50g)
Very pale peach (white would look good too, or beige to match the basket) fur
type yarn, this was something that I had in my workbag, think it came from China
– any faux fur / eyelash yarn will do.
1 tiny pompom from Poundland
30g of washable toy stuffing;
25cm (about 10 in) diameter circle of muslin; I used a Liz Earle cleanse & polish
cloth; an old T-shirt will work fine.
65g approx. of PVC beanbag granules, or, dry rice – I used recycled beanbag filler
purchased from eBay
Dried flowers fine pot pourri if you want this scented– DO NOT use oils, they will
come through, you can use Lenor unstoppables, or similar in any flavour you fancy,
or, leave the fragrance out.
