Slip stitch crochet fingerless mittens designed as tulips!

This is a perfect project when you have small amounts of leftover yarn: you need only about 15 grams of each colour (60 meters/65 yards) for one finished pair of mittens. Use one colour for the flowers, one for the leaves, one for the background. Any fingering weight yarn can be used!

The mittens are worked flat and sewn together in the end. The procedure is described with step-by-step photos.The slip stitch technique gives them a perfect fit.

They are easily crocheted if you have some experience of slip stitch crochet. Only F and B stitches are used, no inverse stitches.

I am using David Burchall’s terminology for slip stitch crochet.

The size is a medium womans size with a pretty close fit. For a looser fit or larger size, add a few rows in the end.

Hook size: I use a 5 mm hook. If you are a “loose crocheter” when it comes to slip stitch crochet, you will probably need a smaller hook (3,5 mm).
Gauge: this fabric is stretchy! The given gauge is measured on the unstretched fabric.
