These elegant one or two­-at-­a-­time toe-­up socks feature an attractive lace pattern contrasted with “bands” of very lightly cabled rib and a texture that will be very comfy either inside of a shoe or worn alone. The repeated lace motif is only eight rows long so it’s very easy to lengthen or shorten the pattern to your foot length. The short-row heel is complemented by a small gusset that allows the sock to fit comfortably without stretching out the lace pattern across the top of your feet.

The delicate lace is most advantageously displayed by a light to medium color solid yarn. Either knit the whole sock with one color or use a darker shade for the cable rib bands to create a contrast look. Ex. 1 ball each Knit Picks Stroll Glimmer in ice blue “Frost” for the main sock body and silvery-grey “Chrome” for the cable-rib bands. Two balls of Stroll Glimmer are needed to knit the socks in a single color as these are only 231 yds a piece, but a single 350-400 yd fingering weight skein for other brands is sufficient.

Instructions are provided for adjusting the circumference of the sock, though it should be noted that it will be simpler to make the sock bigger than smaller by adjusting stitch count. It is recommended to use smaller needles and a smaller gauge than recommended if you need to fit a narrower foot.
