Tummo
Pattern is no longer available.
Tummo means inner fire in Tibetan (according to Wikipedia). I designed this exuberant hat for my friend Nicole. Its bold patterns, strong colors, and lavish beading reflect the inner fire she so generously shares. Despite its intricate appearance, this hat is an easy knit. The motifs are worked with only one color at a time, using simple mosaic knitting. Slipped stitches create the striking designs. The beaded band is fully lined with a smooth knitted-in lining…so no cold beads against your skin. Crafted entirely from sock yarn leftovers, Tummo makes the most of your stash.
This version, worked in colors as shown, used 250yd (229m) of the main color (turquoise), 150yd (138m) of dark green, and 25yd (23m) of yellow green.
