This lovely toque was inspired by Mr. Tumnus, the Faun, and his wintery meeting under the lamp post. The toque is worked in the round from the bottom up, featuring simple cabled lanterns, and contrasting textures.
FINISHED SIZE
About 16 (18, 20)” circumference
Toque shown measures 18”.
YARN
Sport (#2 Fine).
Shown here: Feel Good Yarn Co, SilverSpun Sport (87% Combed Cotton, 5% Silver, 5% Nylon, 3% Spandex; 173 yds/50 g): Silver Dust, 2 hanks.
NEEDLES
Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm): 16” circular (cir), Double points (DPN).
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
NOTIONS
Marker (m); cable needle; tapestry needle.
GAUGE
32 sts/40 rows = 4” in 1x1 Rib worked in rnds after washing.
NOTES
• All stitches are slipped kwise unless specified otherwise.
• Chart is found on the last page. It is read from right to left every round, from bottom up, and pattern is repeated 8 (9, 10) times between red bars.
• When working pattern as established, continue in Garter st and k1, p1, k1 respectively.
• All abbreviations are standard unless specified (See Stitches).
