Tuni Heart Square
Edit: My pattern styling is under review as I prepare a group of new patterns. This was an initial trial pattern and needs editing for flow, but I’m leaving it up for now until I have a replacement.
Decorate a bag, pocket, greeting card, or make multiple squares and join them.
This is a small project to expand your Tunisian crochet repertoire ---
some fundamental experience in Tunisian Crochet stitching is required.
The pretty heart can be made flat or raised as you experiment with stitch technique. Some photos for special stitches are provided. You will practice a number of Tunisian stitches and see a small sample of the many effects that Tunisian crochet can achieve. You will see the impact of varying tension as you perform the Tunisian pull-ups and stitch-closes.
For a raised heart use wool or other springy yarn. For DK weight 20g is more than sufficient. For a flat heart, choice of fibre is not so important.
Suggested hook sizes for your choice of yarn are:
DK: 4.5 mm (7) Tunisian hook
Sport: 4 mm ( G-6) Tunisian hook
Fingering: 3.5 mm (E-4) Tunisian hook
