This is a 12-page crochet pattern instant download PDF and photo tutorial. The blanket can be made with either worsted weight yarn, for a very heavy baby blanket or a lap blanket, or dk (baby) weight yarn for a lighter weight baby blanket. This pattern was designed to teach you how to make mitered squares which are joined together with the Tunisian Entrelac technique. This means that there is no need to sew the squares together, because they are joined as you go! Whereas traditional entrelac crochet joins the squares together in a “stair-step” fashion, this pattern creates the squares in straight columns. Detailed instructions are given for the mitered squares and close-up photos help to explain how they are joined to one another. All squares in the blanket can be created with a regular crochet hook. The border is done in single crochet. This crochet pattern and photo tutorial is designed for the intermediate crochet level. However, it is easy enough to follow that even a beginner at Tunisian crochet who has learned the stitches and knows how to follow a pattern can create this as well. You should be familiar with single crochet, slip stitch, Tunisian simple stitch, Tunisian reverse stitch, and Tunisian knit stitch. The hooks and yardage given above are for the baby weight version of this blanket. The baby weight version calls for 1 skein of each color, whereas the worsted weight version calls for 2 skeins of each color.
