This top can be made using a regular crochet hook, no need for a special hook. It is made with mitred squares, entrelac style, starting with a foundation chain. The main pattern of each square is worked with an extended knit stitch, featuring a central knit stitch, with double crochet (US single crochet) for the straps.

The main part of the garment is made in the form of a tube, working one square at a time, initially along the foundation chain. It is possible to make a longer garment by adding more rows of squares.

I found, with the nature of the yarn and stitches used, the garment resulted in being quite “stretchy”. Being 41” chest I found the 38” size fits perfectly. You might need to consider making one size smaller than required, depending on the yarn you choose.

Also, the length of straps¬¬ required may vary from person to person, depending on personal taste of how low or high you need the garment to be when worn. A larger or smaller garment can be made by adding or taking away multiples of 2 stitches per square. (The squares are always an odd amount of stitches.)
