Tunisian Mermaid Tail
I fell in love with Tunisian Crochet a few years ago, and have enjoyed creating various items with the style.
When my daughter asked me for a mermaid tail I decided that it would be a fun Tunisian project to attempt since there are so many standard crochet mermaid tails already out there, and this design is what I came up with.
This blanket has a double layered fin which is sturdy and holds its shape much better than a single layer, it also creates an extra space inside the fin where the feet can go in creating quite a life like mermaid tail if the person using it wiggles their feet inside. This blanket ended up to be large enough for an adult or teenager, but easily adjustable in size for a smaller child by working less rows on the Main Body section.
The self-striping yarn I used has a beautiful color combination and made the tail very colorful but the stitch pattern on its own is very pretty and will look great with any double knit weight yarn in a single color as well.
I used a 7mm Tunisian Hook which might seem a bit large for DK yarn but through experimentation I felt that it was the best size, you can always make a swatch and see what works for you.
I intended to create a pattern that is easy and simple to follow and suitable for Tunisian Crocheters of all skill levels.
Additionally I did create a few quick videos to assist in showing some of the stitch patterns and the links are also included in the Pdf Pattern.
