Tupelo Honey
Tupelo Honey is a triangular shawl full of delightfully squishy texture that works wonderfully with speckled yarn. It’s boho style will keep you warm when that first bit of frost begins to welcome Autumn home. So go ahead and grab yourself a cozy cup of tea and wrap yourself up in this snuggly shawl on those cold winter days.
Materials
Total Yarn Required for Pattern:
MC-Approximately 3 skeins of Wee Chickadee Woolery, Squashy Dk or approximately 693 yards/300 grams of a DK weight yarn. I had about 21 grams/45 yards left after I completed the shawl and made the fringe. Colorway: Shadow Wood
CC-2 skeins of Squoosh Fiberarts Ultra DK or approximately 450 yards/300 grams of a DK weight yarn. I had about 19 grams/43 left after the completion of the shawl. Colorway: Fudge
Needles:
Us 9/5.5 mm 36 inch circular needle
Us 9/5.5 mm double pointed needles for cast on only
(or as required to meet gauge)
Gauge:
19.5 sts and 26 rows=4 inches on US 9/5,5 mm in stockinette stitch before blocking
Gauge is not critical for this project but keep in mind that a tighter or looser gauge will affect how much yarn is needed for the completion of the pattern. It is important that you like the fabric and texture that is created with your chosen needles.
Size after blocking:
86 inches from wingtip to wingtip and 33 ½ inches from center cast on to bottom edge.
Notions:
4 removable stitch markers, darning needle to weave in ends, sharp scissors for cutting fringe, a large crochet hook(I used a I-9/5.5mm), tape measure or ruler for measuring fringe, tools for blocking your finished shawl.
Difficulty: 3 out of 5 but it depends on your level of knitting experience. A new knitter might find some elements difficult while an advanced knitter might not find it difficult at all. A knowledge of garter tab, cable knitting, knitting into the stitch below, lace and slipped stitches are helpful but not required. A step by step photo tutorial is also included for adding the fringe for your shawl and I give video tutorial links for some of the more advanced stitch patterns. If you are a new knitter and have any questions at all, I am more than happy to help you.
Model is 5’4 1/2 inches tall
