A large and puffy ottoman that is super simple to make.

Turbulent Seas is a fun project using a large hook and worsted weight yarn with four strands held together. Pattern instructions are for a two-color ottoman, but you can easily customize this pouf to be any color combination you wish, or simply use one color, the choice is yours.

My inspiration for this design is the Atlantic Ocean. A couple of years ago during Christmastime, my husband and I (along with our youngest) took a trip to visit our middle child several states away. He lived near the beach along the Atlantic coast of Florida at the time. This was my first real experience seeing the ocean and being able to put my feet in the water. The colors I chose for this ottoman are very close to the colors of the water.

YARN
Yarn Bee (Worsted; 85% Acrylic, 15% Hemp; 228yds/208m; 3.5oz/100g; A - Pebbled Path, B - Window Ivy).

HOOK
Size (15.0 mm)

GAUGE
6 dc and 4 rows per 4”/10cm. Gauge is not crucial to this project but may affect the size and the amount of yarn used.

SIZE
26 inches in diameter, 18 inches in height.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends ( you can also just thread your ends to the wrong side of the bag if you wish).
Sewing machine.
Fabric panel at least 85 x 51 inches in size (a Queen size flat sheet works well and will make two insert bags).
Bean Bag Filler (other stuffing such as cotton fabric scraps, old t-shirts, polyfill, etc. can be used if filler pellets/beans are not available).
String to tie the insert bag closed (or optional sew-in Velcro strip).
