Here are two adorable additions to crochet for your Thanksgiving table or kitchen, or to give as a hostess gift. They work up fairly quickly, are fun to make, and don’t need much yarn, so you’ll have plenty of time left before Thanksgiving to complete them both.

The placemat/trivet is about 11.5” across by about 9.5” tall. It would be a nice table decoration or trivet for a small serving plate. The magnet/applique is about 4.75’ across by about 4.5” tall. As a magnet it would be very cute on the fridge, or use it as applique to spruce up Thanksgiving linens or clothing.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED (for both patterns)

• Cotton Crochet Yarn, worsted weight, in 4 colors- I used a rusty red (Bernat Paprika), gold (Bernat), sage green (Sugar & Cream) and brown (Sugar & Cream Warm Brown) – and a small amount of black (Sugar & Cream) for the eyes. You will need less than a 1/2 skein of each color to complete both patterns.
• F Hook (Gauge is not important for these projects)
• Large Tapestry Needle to attach parts, embroider eyes (placemat/trivet) and other features (magnet) and weave in ends
• Flexible magnetic backing for the magnet (not needed if using as appliqué)
• Craft Glue (to attach the magnetic backing to the magnet – not needed if using as an appliqué)
