And because options are fun I’ve also included modified instructions within the pattern to make his Turkey Friend too! They utilize the same pattern, but when indicated add eyes and the adorable tuft of feathers on the head. Both crochet turkey designs are sure to add that touch of festive handmade delight and conversation to your Thanksgiving and fall celebrations.

Also, note that the pilgrim hat is a great stand-alone holiday decor item.

PATTERN INFORMATION

• Your PDF purchase includes written instructions and helpful photographs to aid in construction.
• The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology.
• The pattern is formatted to have one featured image at the beginning of the pattern for reference with all other full-sized images at the end for easy, optional printing.

SKILLS NEEDED

• The skill level needed is intermediate (but ambitious beginners are always encouraged to try!).
• The techniques you will need to know include chain, single crochet, standing single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet increase, invisible decrease, working in the back bar of the ch, half double crochet, double crochet, working in the front and back loop only, the invisible finish, and the adjustable (magic) ring.

MATERIALS NEEDED (more specifics are noted within the pattern)

• yarn in your choice of colors (about 237-317 yds/217-290 m of worsted/aran)
• a size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
• stitch markers
• tapestry needle
• stuffing
• pins
• scissors
• safety eyes
• chopstick to help stuff
• needle puller (optional)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

• Using hook size E/4 (3.5 mm) and worsted yarn the Crochet Turkey Gnome and the Crochet Turkey Friend measures approx. 8 inches (20 cm) tall in the sitting position.
• The miniature Crochet Turkey Gnome and Crochet Turkey Friend in the images were made using Size 10 crochet thread and a 1.50 mm hook. The same pattern is used with a minor change: use 4 mm eyes if applicable. They measure approx. 4 inches (10 cm) tall in the sitting position.
