Turkish Delight
This pattern uses the mosaic technique, with the instructions being mostly in chart form. If you are unsure how to work mosaic crochet you can find a short tutorial on my Youtube channel.

A few years back I took a road trip through Turkey and one stop over was in Konya where I visited the Karatay Medresesi, a restored Seljuk theological school built around 1251 and which is now a tile museum. The dome of the museum is spectacular with its amazingly preserved dark and light blue Seljuk tiles.
The mosaic patterns included in this afghan are my interpretation of these gorgeous tiles, although I did decide to work in a different colourway from the blue. There are six colours in this blanket, colour A is the main background colour and it is worked in an off-white. Three of the other five colours are in varying shades of grey, which go well with the toning taupe brown colour, and then a bright yellow colour adds some zing.
I used drops Alaska which is Aran/worsted weight; 1 ball is 50g which is equal to 70 meters. I used 4970 meters of yarn for the body and the border of the afghan. There is a breakdown of yarn amounts on the product page.

The body section of the afghan is 103 cm x 151 cm (40.5 inches x 59.5 inches) and there are five patterned sections in the body which are each separated by the same motif as the border. All five patterns and the repeating motif have a pattern repeat of 20 stitches.
This is a gorgeous blanket to make and is a great stepping stone on from your first mosaic project.
Your Turkish adventure awaits. Enjoy!
