Please note: Turks and Caicos patterns are available in two different ways:
-
The $7.00 download from within Ravelry is a traditionally-written pattern, with complete instructions for 12 sizes in a single gauge.
-
Turks and Caicos is also available directly within the CustomFit website. CustomFit produces custom patterns for your body, in your gauge, for $12.50.
If you’d like a completely custom version of Turks and Caicos, please click here and do NOT purchase the $7.00 pattern. Thanks!
Mrs. Crosby loves to play, and the more exotic the location the better. This sweet transitional sweater will keep you comfortable anywhere in the world, from the Mediterranean to lovely Turks & Caicos. The peek-a-boo lace panel at the bust is interesting without baring a lot of skin, and offers a fun change for the knitter as well. Simple Garter stitch trim ensures that all eyes are on the knitter and the yarn, rather than the sweater design (which is as it should be).
It is worked in pieces from the bottom up and seamed for a tailored look, and vertical darts are used for waist shaping.
Mrs. Crosby Loves to Play is a wonderful new yarn line from the same people who bring us Lorna’s Laces. Hat Box in particular is one of my all-time favorite yarns: It’s light, has a slight sheen and great drape, and offers incredible stitch definition and a great knitting experience. It comes in a selection of very fun colors, and I highly recommend it for this sweater.
(One quick note on yardage in CustomFit patterns - the yardage requirements listed here are based on my preferred gauge for the recommended yarn. And while I’ve given approximate quantities for standard size sweaters, CustomFit will make your pattern in the size and gauge of your choice. It’s pretty tough to give yardage requirements for any possible combination! If you’re not using the recommended yarn, and/or you’re not a standard size, I recommend Hannah Fettig’s amazing app, stashbot, to get a sense of your yardage requirements.)
