Several times a day, the tide turns on the Columbia River, causing huge freighters to swing on their anchor lines a full one hundred and eighty degrees while the piers, pilings, bridges and mountains hold steadfast.

This color work cowl pattern includes two versions: a Classic (continuous knit) or a Steeked (cut between steeks with a 2- or 4-button band) – which is a great way to try steeking on something bigger than a swatch but without the huge commitment of a full sweater project.

Size: Approximately 20-24” circumference by 8” high, measured blocked, will fit most adults

Materials:
Color A: approximately 175 yards fingering/sock
Color B: approximately 125 yards fingering/sock
A note about yarn: If steeking, select a ‘sticky’ natural wool yarn.

Version 2 released on 1-28-19
Steeking!!: So many amazing knitters and designers are taking the mystique (The Eek?) out of the sometimes terrifying idea of cutting your knitting. The Steeked version of this cowl has finishing instructions using 2 or 4 buttons. It can also be finished with 2 ribbons or straps and buckles by making identical right button bands with the holes lining up.
