I recently rediscovered I had three skeins of BC Garns Tussah Tweed in my stash that had been gifted to me a while back. I did a swatch in a Lacy Broken Rib and loved the drape the resulting fabric had. The flecks of gold and sky blue in this relatively neutral shade of yarn screamed denim to me. I immediately envisioned an oversized cowl/hood I could wear with my denim coat this spring.

This is a light fingering yarn with lots of drape. If you want to substitute the yarn, go for something with silk, rayon, cotton blend. Make a decent sized swatch before casting on and take the time to block it to be sure you like the resulting fabric.

The stitch pattern is a simple multiple of six stitches and four rows. Once you get into it, it is easy to remember but yields a pleasant fabric, perfect for spring. It is basically a ribbing with columns of knit stitches alternating with narrow lacy columns.

You can make your cowl as large or long as you wish. By using your swatch and a little math, this is easy to customize.
