This is true yarn candy to make for a special little one! I created my Tutti Frutti with a softly textural cotton blend yarn, but the pattern is very adaptable. Try it out in a smooth yarn or even a boucle for a different effect that is equally appealing. Just make sure that you make up gauge, especially for the hat.

No matter which yarn you choose, selvedges make it easy to sew the squares together for the blanket. The squares for the hat border are knitted on to each other. then the crown is picked up from the side.

Please note that even though the primary pattern for Tutti Frutti is Garter Stitch, I recommend that you make your gauge swatch in Stockinette Stitch for this project. If you are adventurous (and of course you are--you’re a knitter!) you can
make the hat first and use the Stockinette Stitch portion of the crown as your gauge swatch.
