These “Tuvalu Braid” ankle socks are a quick knit that is much easier than it looks! Constructed from the toe up, they feature a braided cable ribbing upper, a solid sole for comfort, curvy wave cables over the back heel, and a gusset to make them fit properly at the arch. Most sizes will be able to make a pair with less than one full skein of sock yarn.

Stitches:
Knit (K), purl (P), knit 2 together (K2tog), slip-slip-knit (ssk), wrap & turn (w&t), make 1 (M1), knit front & back (Kfb), purl front & back (Pfb), purl & knit into the same st (P/K), cables, and any closed CO (such as Turkish CO)

Materials:

  • fingering weight yarn, about 185 – 230 yards
  • sz 2 (2.75mm) circular needles or DPNs
  • cable needle
  • 2 stitch markers
