Tuxedo Outfit
When I saw a little baby dressed up in a tuxedo shirt, it got me to thinking…Why not have a little tuxedo outfit that I could make for my photographer? She absolutely loved the idea, so I went to work. What are the MOST recognizable things about a tuxedo? Well the bow tie of course, closely followed by the cufflinks and the cummerbund right?
This pattern includes how to make a Bow Tie that will fit ANY age, cuffs and cufflinks that will fit newborn/0-3, 3-6, and 6-12, and a diaper cover for 0-3 months to act as the “cummerbund.” My photographer was SO happy with this set, she did a roll call for models-for no profit-just so she could use it! And now I am happy to share the pattern with you :)
First the Bow Tie-instructions for the bow, and the tie that goes around the neck. The length is fully customizable, so you can make it any length for any size! It is a simple tie-on, which makes it safe for baby, but please-do not leave him unsupervised while wearing it! Then, the cufflinks. Very simple and will fit wrists up to a year old-possibly even larger, which means it can be used for all baby pictures, and not just for newborns! And finally, the diaper cover, done in 0-3 months which helps when new babies have to be diapered-but you don’t want them showing for the pictures.
The set is written in American terms, and you will need to know how to create a magic circle, slip stitch, whip stitch, chain, half double crochet, and half double crochet decrease. You will need an I crochet hook, Black, and either white yarn, or 2 buttons.
