Hello, striped skirt! 2-stitch stranded woven tweed stitch pattern changes direction at stitch markers to create a gorgeous herringbone-like fabric for this skirt. Self-striping yarn creates more interest.
Hemmed edges at both waist and lower edge of skirt provide structure; four pairs of i-cord belt loops follow the direction of the tweed to facilitate wearability.
Casting on at the bottom edge of the skirt with smaller needles, the knitter switches to larger needles to create a single row garter hem turn. When the garment reaches the lower hip (widest measure of hip) knitter changes to a needle 2 sizes smaller, knitting a much firmer fabric to provide strength and stability for the skirt’s yoke.
