----- “Tweedledee Tweed” Block -----
- - - This BLOCK uses the “Interlocking Block Stitch”, which works up nicely and creates a cozy fabric. These blocks are also great stashbusters. - - -
The “Interlocking Block Stitch” involves working over chain stitches and into the stitches that are TWO rows BELOW the current row being worked.
• Written in US terms.
• Yarn used: Caron Blossom Cakes in Macaw.
• Hook size: J (6.00 mm).
• Squares measure approx. 6” x 6”.
• (Please note, any weight and blend of yarn can be used, along with a suitably sized hook. Square size will of course be determined by yarn weight / hook size / tension.)
• When using worsted weight yarn and a size J hook, each square uses approx. 34 yards of yarn.
• Stitch count of squares = 20 stitches per side.
SAMPLE BLANKET was assembled by joining squares with a “tight join” using HDC. Yarn used for joining: Lion Brand Wool-Ease in “Linen” along with a size J hook. After squares were joined, I continued around with one round of Moss Stitch using the “Linen”, making SC, chain 2, SC in each corner.. Then another round of Moss Stitch using an accent color, making SC, chain 2, SC in each corner. Lastly a round of SC in every stitch and chain 1 space, making SC, chain 2, SC in each corner, with “Linen”.
