Twiddle Muff
As seen on Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas
A twiddle muff is a hand knitted hand ‘muff’ made with various texture yarns, stitches and bits and bobs knitted in and added on the inside and outside. An accessory or comforter for ‘fidgety’ hands, or people with dementia where the need for sensory touch is comforting, and widely accepted and acknowledged by the NHS and some charities.
It’s a great project to use up scraps or stash yarns, practise new stitches and use your creativity as well as making a practical and purposeful gift for a loved one or donate to a local charity.
NOTE
This is a basic recipe/pattern for a piece of knitting approx. 25cm x 40cm, consisting of bands of various texture yarns and stitches, such as double moss, rib, eyelet, (to thread ribbons through) loop stitch, and bobble stitch (a fab stitch for ultimate texture and fun to do!)
Some beads and buttons are applied afterwards on the outside and inside as well as fringing, cut short or left long.
