Twigs of winter cardigan
I have been tumbling with the dream of a saddle-shouldered, classic cardigan for so long. The patterns of my hat, Twigs of Winter, gave me the inspiration, as I knew that these were the perfect patterns to use for my dreamy cardigan.
You find the hat-pattern here:

Saddle-shoulders have so many advantages; here I let the pattern float into the saddles for a pretty look. And the fit over shoulders is perfect! The best of all is that they are integrated in the knitting, no seaming is needed:)
Construction
This pattern is tested.
The cardigan is worked seamlessly.
The lower body is worked bottom-up and back and forth to underarms, starting from the ribbed hem, followed by the main-body in stockinette and stitch-patterns The sleeves are worked bottom-up and in-the-round to underarms. Sleeves and body are joined and upper body is worked in one piece with regular raglan-decreases and saddle-shoulders. Stitches are picked up to work the neckline and the button-band/buttonhole-band.
Sizes
Finished chest circumference, when buttoned: 96/100/104/108/111/115/119/123/127/134/142/149 cm = 38/39.5/41/42.5/44/45.5/47/48.5/50/53/56/59”. The sample is worked in size 1, with approximately 10 cm/4” of positive ease. I recommend that you choose a size that will give approximately 5 – 12 cm/2 – 4.5” of positive ease.
Materials
Yarn: I recommend a worsted weight yarn with great stitch-definition that knits up to gauge. I used Lark from Quince & co., in the colourway Frost, to work my cardigan. This worsted weight yarn comes in skeins of 50 gr/1.76 oz, and 123 m/134 yards. Of this specific yarn you will need approximately 1200/1280/1360/1440/1520/1600/1660/1720/1800/1920/2020/2120 m = 1308/1395/1482/1526/1656/1744/1809/1874/1962/2092/2202/2310 yards.
Needles: size 4 mm/US 6 for the main-body, sleeves and button-bands. size 3.5 mm/US 4 for the collar.
Notions: 6 removable stitch-markers, waste-yarn (for the underarm sts), buttons 24 mm/0.9” diameter. Tapestry needle. Blocking tools. A row-counter is useful.
Gauge
21 sts and 28 rows/rounds in stockinettes sts/stitch-patterns = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”.
