A 1950’s-inspired head scarf with preppy details designed for that special skein of yarn you’ve been holding on to forever. Twilight Time sports a diamond lace motif - the inspiration for it’s name - with a contrasting garter stitch border to up the prep factor.

Twilight Time can be worn around the head or neck, and is perfect for keeping your hair out of your face and for protecting your skin against the summer sun.

TECHNIQUES
Long-tail cast-on, intarsia, simple lace, bind-off of choice.

Video tutorials are included for advanced techniques and transitions.

CONSTRUCTION
Twilight Time is knit flat in one piece using intarsia for the contrasting border.

MATERIALS
You will need fingering weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors: Main Color (MC) & Trim Color (TC) - preferably a wool blend.

This headscarf has been tested using the following yarns:

Cascade Yarns (75/25 merino/nylon)
Cascade Yarns Heritage 4ply

YARDAGE
MC: Approximately 160 - 180 yds, or 145 - 165 m
TC: Approximately 50 - 70 yds, or 45 - 65 m
Each pattern repeat will use approximately:
MC: 13 - 15 yds, or 11 - 14 m
TC: 3 - 5 yds, or 2 - 4 m (+ 5 yds, or 4 m, for the Garter Stitch Borders at the beginning and end of the scarf.)

NEEDLES
-One- US4 (3.5 mm) straight or circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge. Don’t forget to swatch!

GAUGE
24 sts & 32 rows per 4”/ 10 cm in lace pattern worked flat and blocked to measurements. Working out of gauge may alter yardage, finished measurements, fabric, and wearability.

NOTIONS
6 to 8 stitch markers - for marking trim border and lace repeats.
Darning needle - for weaving in ends.
