Short-sleeved pullovers are such useful transitional pieces – no long sleeves in the way or getting stretched out as you push them up, but still a nice extra layer on your torso for warmth on chilly days. The deep V-neck keeps you from getting overheated and looks great over different necklines. Sample is being worn with about an inch of positive ease in the bust.

Construction is an adaptation of Barbara Walker’s top-down seamless simultaneous set-in sleeve construction from her book Knitting From the Top. Stitches are cast on across the back and the top of the back is worked first. Stitches for each front are picked up along the top edge of the back and shaped with short rows. Sleeve stitches are picked up along the sides of the shoulders and then the entire sweater is worked from the top in one piece until the sleeves are separated. The pocket is worked before knitting the bottom ribbing and then is joined to the body at that point.

The village of Twillingate spans two islands in Notre Dame Bay located off the northeastern shore of Newfoundland and is famous as a great place to see icebergs. We were too late for the icebergs, but we found harsh, rocky headlands, an unusual light house, pitcher plants, blueberries, crashing waves, and wind.
